Amber Charter School East Harlem was founded in 2000 as the first Latino-led charter school in New York State. It currently serves 518 K-5 students. Amber Charter School Kingsbridge opened in 2016 and serves 398 K-4 students. A third school has been approved to open in the Washington Heights Inwood community in 2020 and will serve K-8 students. By 2025, the ACS network will serve 1848 students across three NYC neighborhoods.

Start Date: Immediate Hire
Education:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in progress or completed in the field of education preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Schedule:
11:45AM–5:45PM, Monday through Friday, non negotiable. This is a Part-Time position with no benefits.
Experience & Skills
- Experience teaching, interacting and working with children of varied ages
- Supervising youth and representing positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants
- Knowledge of child development
- Support lead teacher to promote student learning
- Skill in classroom management and developing lesson plans
- Flexible to the needs of the classroom environment
- Motivated self-starter.
- Keeping confidences, loyalties and practice professionalism.
Responsibilities
School Day Support (11:45 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Work in partnership with teachers to establish goals for each student and assist with small group instruction.
- Keep open lines of communication with teachers and other pertinent staff.
- Lead a small group activity for each tutoring session based on student need
- Assist in conducting assessment of students
- Supervise children during lunch, recess, and dismissal duties
- Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Afterschool Support (3:00 – 5:45 PM)
- Facilitate curriculum reinforcement activities and homework assistance
- Positively ID parents before releasing children
- Maintain excellent communication with parents regarding program information: schedule changes, permission slips, etc.
- Adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to the children at Amber Charter School's Program
- Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers
- Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor
